GLUHWEIN - It's beginning to smell a lot like Christmas

There is nothing better than the smell of Gluhwein when you walk into a friends Chalet on a cold wintery day.
The smell of the cloves and spices remind us of Christmas…. Hmmm, just thinking of it is mouthwatering.
Here's our favorite recipe, handed down from Gabi's Austrian Grandmother.
Elfrieda's Gluhwein
Ingredients (serves 10):
2 bottles of red wine
2 cups of water
3 cloves
3 cinnamon sticks
3 cardomon pods
3 star anise
1/2 lemon finely sliced
1/2 lime finely sliced
2 oranges sliced into small pieces
Add sugar to taste - about 2-3 teaspoons
oranges for decoration
Put all ingredients in a heavy pot and heat over a high flame until close to boiling. Reduce heat to low.
Let simmer for an hour. Serve at luke warm temperature. Decorate glasses with an orange slice.
The challenge is to resist a 2nd glass :)
